Fabrik stoneware pieces were designed and crafted in Seattle, Washington, in the 1970s by Jim McBride. His distinctive work is known for its ram-pressed construction, outward slanted rims, and unusual handles. The pieces were heavy, molded, and glazed in a simple overlap/interface pattern in earth tones. The unique style was met with great appreciation, and at its height, Fabrik could employ more than 15 artists to manufacture pieces for distribution nationwide. They shut doors in the mid-1980s. Today, their timeless design and impeccable construction make them a favorite in functional mid-century collectibles and are synonymous with Pacific Northwest mid-century design.
