Victorian Era Starch Blue Pressed Glass Candlesticks pair

Victorian Era Starch Blue Pressed Glass Candlesticks pair

$375.00

These early Victorian Era pieces are from the 1840s to 1860s! These pressed starch blue glass candlesticks are attributed to Mount Washington Glass Works and are elegant examples of early American pressed glass. Produced using a mold-pressing technique, they feature intricate patterns and a soft, translucent blue hue achieved through metal oxides in the glass formula. This method allowed for detailed yet affordable designs, making fine glassware more accessible during the Victorian era. The glass is left with a cloudy and mildly textured semi-matte finish instead of the high gloss stuff we see everywhere. A true historic find!

Mount Washington Glass Works, a renowned Massachusetts-based glassmaker, was known for its innovative and decorative pieces. These candlesticks showcase their signature fluted columns that are highly collectible today, valued for their craftsmanship, historical significance, and distinctive color.
